Free Comic Book Day

Castle Perilous Games and Books will host Free Comic Book Day on Saturday, May 3rd. Starting at 10 a.m. Anyone may come into the store and select up to 3 free comics (or other promotional items) with no purchase required. Comics available include Archie, X-Men, The Simpsons, Superman, Hellboy and Sonic, among many others. If you want more free comics, you may choose two additional ones for each comic you buy off the rack. Refreshments will be served and the Carbondale Public Library will be on hand as well to discuss library activities.

Window to good food

Hey everybody, click on the new window lettering at Town Square Market, 106 E Jackson St. We have put this up in preparation for the upcoming 'Wine and Art Fair' on Friday May 2 from 4 - 10 pm as a way to let folks know what we are and what we do here at the Market.

For that event we will be offering our Town Square Market Picnic Bags which include a fresh baguette w/ olive oil and herb dipping sauce, cheese, fruit and chocolate.

Trick or Treat

Carbondale Main Street and Thomas Publishing are working on having Trick or Treating at businesses around the Square and down the Strip during official Trick or Treat hours. So far, Castle Perilous Games and Books, Rosetta Stone Books, Clayship Guitars and the Town Square Market have signed up to stay open later and hand out candy. Other businesses will be contacted as we get time or, if you're interested, call Debbie at Thomas Publishing or Scott at Castle Perilous Games and Books

New Main Street director

Caleb Hale reports:
"Meghan Cole, a customer service representative in The Southern Illinoisan's Marion bureau, will take over for Roxanne Conley, who is stepping down after five years to pursue other interests, said Randy Johnson, Carbondale Main Street board president.

Cole was recently an intern with the Illinois Main Street program in Decatur before joining the staff of The Southern Illinoisan in September."

Castle Perilous ribbon cutting



After 17 years on The Island, Scott Thorne and gang at Castle Perilous Games have moved to the old WTAO building at 207 W. Main Street.

The Chamber of Commerce threw a Ribbon Cutting on Thursday, June 21st.

Take a peek

The aluminum cover around the old Bening Square building is being removed by the crew at Morgan Construction..... Expected to hake 10 weeks, the building will be painted, and have a new awning installed. . . . Restoring the old lady to some of her former glory.

Legend has it that former first lady Eleanor Roosevelt stayed there, when dedicating Devil's Kitchen Lake.
