Downtown Farmer's Market
This week's downtown Farmer's Market, located on the east side of the Carbondale Square didn't not have a very good turnout. Only 2 vendors showed and apparently only about two dozen customers made it there. From what I gather, there's a lot of competing farmer's markets in the area, not only from the Saturday one in Carbondale but with Cape Girardeau, Murphysboro and Marion all having them on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, it makes it hard for the limited number of vendors in the area.

June 13th's Farmers Market on the Square had five vendors and a decent crowd of customers.
Early on the late cold snap hurt many of the crops.
This market has fresh locally grown tomatoes that are produce by grower Rich Adams. Rich has developed a technique that produces early tomatoes that taste marvelous.
